It is not required that all these are implemented, I'm just brainstorming this group of gameplay elements, everything is open for discussion:

Lenticular Galaxy:
A big core where everyone starts and some constellations around.

Irregular Galaxy:

Very random galaxy with many constellations distant to each other and random empire grouping that could lead to very weird games. (If there are a total of 5 constellations and 8 players it would be nice to spawn all of them in 2-3 constellations and leave the others without any empire ).

Asteroid Belts:

Asteroid belts in star systems, colonizable after some tech research (era2) that give defensive bonuses to space battles and appear on them.

Galaxy Options:

  • Sliders for core size and arms size would be good.
  • The ability to add options to customize each type of galaxy for modders later on.
  • Slider determining how many unconnected planets to starlanes there are.

Stellar Phenomena that affects space battles:

  • A star is emitting a lot of stellar flares, making system science and industry output increase and dust and food decrease, it also provides a buff to energy weapons for space battles.
  • A Comet appears in a system giving people approval rate, increasing religiousness and giving a defensive bonus on space battles.
  • An asteroid menaces some planet, if not intercepted it destroys some buildings.
  • Blackholes, quasars, debris (from an endless space battle), in starnodes besides asteroids that give certain space battle buffs/nerfs.
  • Nebulas with different effects (they could be groups of stars that belong to a nebula and have some space battle buff/nerf).

Ground Battles:

  • A planet that has seismic activity incurs in weaker groundtroops and armor vs aircraft.
  • A hollow planet gives bonuses to Infantry.
  • Different planet types should be better for different ground troops (jungle better for infantry, desert and steppes for armor, ocean aircraft etc)
