Hi,

Actually in galaxy view, when looking at other factions fleets, you can see in a diamond over them the number of ships in the fleet. As I think this is useful in early game, when 1 ship = 1 CP, this info became of little use as game advances, and IMO it should be better to show the CP contained in a fleet into this diamond, to give a better info.

To put an example: imagine you have unlocked an Era III 3CP hull (a battleship as example). You make a fleet with this new ship and tow 2CP Era I ships (two corvettes to protect it). This is 5 CP fleet, but in galaxy view appears 3 ships fleet.

for some reason you decide you want a good cinematic, and send this fleet to fight with another one. Two are available: a 4-ship Cravers fleet and a 2-ship UE fleet (that's you can see now).

Let's give this new ships a glorious dead, cause I'm only testing cinematic in EA. Fight the 4-ship Cravers fleet. But oh! they're 4 1CP little scouts. No glorious dead, poor cinematic of killing little guys.

Well it was boring, but only to see it next turn you decide to fight the 2-ships UE fleet. Indeed this fleet was composed by two 6CP Zelevas dreadnoughts with ultimate adamantian guns in all their slots, and to be more killer machines, they got also the extra slots unlocked and filled with anti-matter guns. So an epic dead and spectacular cinematic to your new fleet. Fortunately you were only testing.

To be hones, the situation in the example is not the more realistic, as not sure there can be this huge difference, but anyway, what you saw in the example was three fleets, with 4, 3 and 2 ships, but the real power (at least counting only CP, not modules, extra slots, and improved modules versions), was just inverse: 4, 5 and 12. So the number of ships in a fleet was a poor indicator of its real power, at least in this case.

Understand that CP is not the only thing that can affect a fleet real power, but IMO is by far a better indicator to see in galaxy view than the actual number of ships.

As side notes, and to avoid excessive ideas spamming (thing I did it before ), some considerations:

  • Ability to see CP instead of number of ships can be unlocked someway (by techs, Eras, etc), instead for being for free from start, as you can justify it because everyone can count ships with a telescope, but needs great scan capacity to identify them from far.
  • From previous you can also erase the diamond at game start, and improve the info you have from fleets as game progress (think relate to techs, eras, curiosity lvl, etc..) first showing no diamond, second the number of stacked fleets, third the number of ships, and last the number of CP. Still not very sure about this, as this can be confusing until people played the game a bit and get the trick.
  • In ES1 there was an improvement that allowed you to see exact enemy fleet composition when orbiting a system with it. Can you put this again? Can you also consider an upgrade to it, the gives you an overview of modules installed in enemy ships? Understand may be too complex to show specific configurations without making game too cumbersome, but just a general info, like: Titanium weapons detected in fleet.

Thanks for reading. Waiting your opinions here.
