The issue:

-The current idle button system often marks ships as idle that are stationed by the player to conduct expeditions etc.


The proposed solution:

-Revamp the system to treat different kinds of ships differently in regards to when they are being flagged as idle, potentially by tagging ships as attack/defense/exploration/expedition

Awesome idea! The status of this idea has been changed to GREENLIGHT as it we hope to implement it soon in our game.

That's because it is a VIP thread.  We are not VIPs so we can't access those threads.

True, and while I made a non-VIP version for the other idea that had a VIP link, I've been too busy afterwards to do the same here.


Basically what I suggested was tagging different types of ships and fleets with jobs which would decide when to flag a fleet as idle. A pure expedition fleet would only be marked as idle if it has probes, or if the system is explored and the ship can move to an unexplored node.

Military ships guarding a system wouldn't be flagged as idle, Node exploration ships are idle as long as they can move and there are undiscovered nodes... and so on.
