A VR support via Oculus Rift and HTC Vive would improve the space and 3D experience even more. 

You can stand within a space battle and look around as the ships clash.

During Diplomacy you could stand infront of the other factions leader (in life size) and select the diplomacy options you like.

On the main screen you could move around your systems and get a 'Minority Report style' feeling of the UI.


This is definately nothing for the first release, but a second or third update. Many elements of the game like space battle or diplomacy can easily moved to VR. The UI would need some refurbishing for the main screen, research etc. but with this ES2 could be the first AAA turn based title for VR making it stand out even more.
