Problem:

At mid-late game your trading companies produce more Luxury Resources than storable.

Like this:

Solution:

Automatically selling all, that is not storable for much lesser than normal profit at the marketplace. With maybe a small pop-up what you earned with the sales.

I will not go into balancing trade, the screenshot should only show what is possible with trade atm.

Additional:

A standing buy order, to automatically buy resources at the adjusted price. Pretty much silent bidding, the highest bidder gets all the resources for his price, what's left goes to the second highest and so on.

No more resentment when starting a new turn and finding out that the enemy snatched everything away to a ultra low price.

Automatically selling excess resources won't be added, but we hope that between the rebalancing of trade routes, market place, and the ability to use luxury resources to boost your population, this won't be necessary.

Yeah, once your trade companies level up you usually end up with several luxury resources you are not using and in much abundance. Late game I also suggest this for Hyperium and Titanium as I usually cap out on it past turn 100.

this would take away the ability to induce a shortage in that luxury item, one of the features devs have said will be more integrated in the future for the marketplace.

Upvoted.  I would also like to see the ability to set up standing "buy" orders as well.  So rather than having to check the market every turn, you can set up a standing buy order to automatically purchase those resources that you are in desperate need of.

Well, I can understand the idea behind this, but wouldn't this go against the game?

The Auto Sale should make the late game more comfortable (also gives you less money than selling normal and only selling that, exceeding 1k), while an auto buy option when the price is low you only helps you in early-mid game.

I wasn't meaning only buy when low.  I was simply suggesting a standing buy order so you don't have to recheck the market every turn.  It could be used for auto-buying resources that are scarce on the market and the galaxy.  Whether you buy high or low, is not what I was talking about.  Example:

Right now there is no research in the tree to allow you to exploit your highest level resources (Orichilwhatever and quadrinix).  As such, right now I have to completely rely on the market to get these resources when they pop up, and they are very scarce.  So there's no way I'm going to be able to buy these resources cheaply.  But as it stands, right now I have to check the market every single turn just to see when some of these resources actually eventually end up on the market for purchase.  This eventually becomes a pain.  But if I were allowed to create a standing order to buy them, I could ensure that I'm getting them off the market without having to constantly check it.

However, to play on your concept of buy low.  Would it really be such a bad concept?  What if more than one person had a standing buy order, maybe you could turn it into a kind of silent auction mechanic.  Where the person with the highest price they're willing to pay for these scarce resources (aka highest bidder), wins and gets the resources.  They couldn't pay less than the base market price for the resource, but they could definitely end up paying more.  That could actually work, and add a bit of a cool dynamic to the market.

I think I got the concept, it sounds quite nice and will add it to my OP.

If there is an option to toggle auto sell, this shouldn't be a problem

Not sure if there is really a cap or only the resources are nor showed in screen.

In any case, if it is really capped, with actual scarcity in market (only tried in easy, so not sure in higher difficulties) it will be a good idea.

EDIT:

It should be carefully tweaked to ensure resources cost doesn't fall in late game. But I think this is a balance issue of the system as a whole and difficult to do until game is more advanced.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but why would you only be able to do this when you have reached the resource cap? I think you should always be able to set up an amount of your resources (Strategic and Luxury) to be sold every turn to the marketplace. It would cut down on micromanagement and allow you to supplement your dust income every turn. You could cancel or modify your sell orders at any time, and the same would be true of any buy orders you have in place.

The Idea came to me when I was exploiting the Trade, that's why the basic Idea was only the Automatic sale.

I like how this Idea is developing, first the silent bidding, now the selling order to minimize micro management.
