Simple enough idea, allow us to inflict Trade agreements and the forced construction of Subsidiaries as part of Diplomatic Demands and Truce proceedings.
As this caused some confusion, do note that the forced construction of Subsidiaries does not involve actually taking control of the opponents industry queue or incentivising them to build a Subsidiary, but rather creating a Subsidiary from thin air on the aggressors system of choice for the duration of the forced Trade Agreement, so that mercantile empires can still squeeze resources from opponents who never researched Trade Routes for whatever reason.
This idea is meant to be taken as part of a set with my Raiding Invasions, Economic Quadrant Privateers, Comparative Economic Victory, and Luxury Addiction ideas to improve the state of Economic gameplay in ES2 currently.
Please remember these are separate ideas that you're not voting for here, but are part of a larger set.
Now here's some historical context and fun facts to fill the space.
Historically, Commodore Matthew Perry was able to open Japan to foreign markets because the Japanese government was aware of the violence which broke out in China as a result of the Emperors poor treatment of British diplomats and refusal to accept trade. Similarly, India was a major source of what we would think of as a Luxury Resource in the context of Endless Space 2-- Tea-- because the British Empire used military power to obtain the Raj and use it as a source of economic power.
We can see similar examples throughout history; the Vikings raided monasteries and villages to obtain suitable gifts for their allies and rivals, creating a power structure based on proving your military ability through the beauty and quality of your loot and keeping people happy with trinkets and beautiful things; Ghengis Khan used his conquered land as the basis for long distance trade across the empire, creating a postal system much akin to the Pony Express which set a land speed record over distance for horse based postal systems while uniting much of what became the Silk Road, an element which was represented by the Roving Clans of Endless Legend; all throughout history we see the fusion of violence and economic gain, whether by trade at spear point or looting of others.
