So I was thinking about all the excess Luxury resources I have every game and then I thought about the Millennium Falcon - "I never thought I'd be smuggling myself in them".
What if (per trade company), you could build a smugglers ship class hull (you could get innovative here and have different graphic designs per company for the ship look). You would be able to drop luxury resources into them where they would become "smuggler's goods".
As the Trade Company advances in level you can smuggle higher tiered luxury goods (currently there are 3 tiers of Luxury goods). The goods would have to be delivered to an off world enemy race where some reward would be given. (maybe dust? maybe a tech? maybe a population? Maybe a resource?)
The Smugglers ships would have free movement through blockades if they are alone (or Perhaps they would have to avoid node travel all together and avoid systems).
There could be a toggle at each Trade Headquarters where one could toggle what they would like smuggled into
the system so other trade companies could look for possible smuggling destinations (or an arbitrary destination with what they want). You may even implement a slider like the diplomancy screen where the terms are set for the smuggle run. Perhaps you would have to negotiate how many times the run would have to be made in order to reap the rewards.
This all stems from trying to find something to do with all those luxury resources.
