When playing i like to be racist. I like to segergate all my populations based on constalation, thus maxing the minors as quickly as possible. One thing that annoys me however, is that when ever i make a new colony the first population is always my major faction, often leading to an over abundance of my major, unless im playing Riftborn. I don't enjoy this lack of control over my empire population.

Might i suggest two new mechanics to help give the player better control over this.

1: The simplest system. A colony ship is created, the population that becomes the first on a new system directly reflects the majority population from where it was built. This would allow me to capture minors in areas far from my homeworld, yet command that population to spread across its stars with ease.

2: Population become a resource: Each colony module costs specific population to build. While the mechanics would be similar to the above suggestion, the key difference here is that the modules directly require specific populations to be built, as apposed to simply selecting from the majority. The module varients would automatically unlock once a new population enters the empire. This would allow the greatist control over the population, and thus would be my prefered choice. In addition to this, i think that all colony ships should once again take one population, per colony module, of said faction. This would be helpful in the following scenario. If i have alot of  population to spread, and i would like to blitz systems, then more population modules when starting a colony = faster colony set up.

I think this would be a great change.
