More lively looking solar systems

From time to time I like looking at my galactic empire. Seeing the planets around the their stars is beautiful, especially the variety of planets, but it all looks a little bit... dead.

My first suggestion is to actually show the different stars. We have binary stars, giant stars, and others, but when you look at them in the system view they simply appear as single balls. I don't know how much it would tax the RAM and graphics, but it would be a beautiful addition to actually see the differences. Being able to zoom in on them, like we zoom in on the planets, would be even better.

The other suggestion which ties in to the overall idea of a more lively system view is to have the planets actually rotate around their stars in unique durations. Once again, this might be taxing more of the computer's resources, but being able to sit back and watch them rotate (or alternatively, watch them move a little bit each turn) would make the systems a lot more alive and interactive.

These are just some ideas. I absolutely love the game!

Edit: I realised now that the planets DO actually rotate around the stars. I just never sat back and watched. Awesome!

It would also be cool if you saw a ship or two fly between the planets at times or when you transfer population to a different planet. I do agree that the systems could look a little more visually apealing or alive would be a great touch.
