Most major factions that alter some core element of the game have replacements for that element all over the tech tree, but one that's somewhat conspicuous is Titanium Colonizers still being in the Unfallen tech tree, a module that they're literally incapable of using given the fact that they... you know, don't colonize like other factions. The Vodyani might still have it as well, not 100% sure, haven't checked. Either way, the Unfallen should get some manner of replacement tech that either increases their Root speed or increases travel speed through Rooted systems or something.

I agree, the Unfallen should have an alternative that speeds up the 'spread vine' process, since 10 turns (on fast) is quite slow.

At the moment you can stack multiple Vineships into the same fleet to have each apply to the Entwining process, but unfortunately that means that Unfallen at the moment have a ludicrously slow start, but wind up being able to take a half dozen systems in as many turns once they have a few system with enough Industry. It's a bit too necessary to stomp them out early if you find them as a neighbor, which I don't care for given the whole point of the Unfallen is to make friends with everyone, but making friends with the Unfallen can be a death sentence if they decide to take the systems you let them entwine under the promise of tasty tasty Food bonuses.

You may have gotten the speed wrong: It is only 10 turns if you got like 2 Vineships (maybe 1 on fast?).

On normal, it is 5% Entwining per Vineship per Turn. Or 20 vineship-turns per Systems. So 10 Vineships need 2 turns. 20 need 1 turn.

I think the whole colonisation System needs another pass:
There are 3 Affinities (Planetbrokers, Celestial Vines, Arcbound) and 1 Faction Trait (Nomadic) that do not use the colonizer design at all.

And "food import" is not exactly one of the better game mechanics anyway.

Yeah on fast with only one ship is 10 turns. I've only played as Unfallen once and I didn't realize you could stack the ships until now xD

See I'm actually fine with the base-game colonalization, though I will say I think the Celestial Vines affinity could use another pass. It encourages you to take systems violently because if you take it through invasion, instant entwine. Because... of course.
