I think it would be nice, that you have some anomalies, wich travel from system to system an give them their special positive or negative effects. Like a Dust nebula or an meteor swarm , wich travel trough the complete Galaxy. Or maybe a minor faction, who travel from system to system. And maybe they give you special quests or something like that.
