Sometimes it's vitial to select a slot where new pop gonna growth.
For example. When you play cravers, new craver can appear on planet with other species and slave them, which reduce approval to 0% and next turn someone will die due lack of food.

of course you can check pop growth popup and then check every planet, but it's not convenient at all.
Simple feature which can reduce amount of micromanagement a bit.
