Hero Ships Should Use Player Colours

Tired of seeing a red hero ship fighting a red hero ship? Want some clearer way in battles to see which side each hero ship is fighting for?

The solution: Hero ships should utilise a players empire colour scheme. Instead of a generic red colour for all, the hero ships should change colour depending upon allegiance.

If your empire colour is green, your hero ships will be green.

I know the devs are against faction specific hero ships - but I see little reason to not let the hero ships change colour. In Endless Legend heroes changed colour to show which faction they were employed by...

we don't have player colors on any spaceships... it will be difficult to change that today.

Over 400,000 points I'm glad I'm not the only one that wants this change

Edit: over 600,000 now - now fingers crossed the devs take a second look at the ideas floating around

I'm hopeful - I've been taken aback a little by how many votes this has got so far. I did see in the 'Pathfinders' cgi trailer that one of the heros seems to be flyining a blue hero ship, so make of that what you will.

Just hoping the devs do a second pass on the ideas section now :D

The developers say that hero ships are all the same because they belong to the "academy" and have nothing to do with the faction of the players. But this is silly, because the heroes participate in the wars and politics of each empire.

We are told that the heroes belong to one faction: the academy. But it is false. Heroes are very involved in our empire, they are not mere mercenaries, they are politicians and leaders as well.

It does not make sense that all hero ships are the same.

I am FOR this! I feel like there should be 2 designs to solve the issue with founder packs! One skin for "early access" players that could switch colors, one for the "normal release" version; both of them able BUT NOT HAVING to change colors.

The excuse stands in regards to general ship design - but - colour not so much.

The logistics of making unique hero ships is a pretty big task, compared to allowing for a palatte swap on the existing models (swapping out the red colour for whatever color the player is rocking). This was done in Endless Legend, I see little reason why it cannot be repeated for ES2 hero ships.

We will just have to cross our fingers, toes and other appendages XD

Oh well... I guess it would have just been nice if the hero ships werent red. It looks like they belong to whoevers playing as a red empire etc etc. Looks like we will just have to pray to the modders out there now.
