While influence is very important early to mid game it starts to taper in usability towards the later game. I find that having a lot of influence is not that useful.
So the thought is, allow influence to be used in diplomatic deals as a form of currency. Basically I have set up a deal that is not considered favorable, but with 1000 influence I can "balance the books" and create an appropriate deal.
