We're back with the next vote for the Umbral Choir. If you've been living on an asteroid for the past few weeks, head over to our dev blog to find out more about the creation process of this upcoming espionage-oriented faction!

A few weeks ago, you decided that the name for the Umbral Choir's home system should be Nexus! We're still at it with names, since in the Umbral Choir's story, they are very rare. Indeed, the Choir is a collective, where all think with one mind. Only through happenstance (or is it fate?) have some of the echoes of the collective become singular voices.

This week, we're asking you what their Hero names should look like. We have thought long and hard about their (upcoming) faction quest, background, and general themes, and have come up with three naming nomenclatures that we think encapsulate the idea of these heroes! Below are the three options, along with a brief explanation, and a couple of examples:

  • [Name], the [Noun]
    • The name part is self-explanatory. The noun is a qualifier, linked to their backstory and how the hero has emerged from the collective.
      • Examples: Baathra, The Most Curious; Racha, the Betrayer
  • [Solfege system notes] [Precision]
    • This one works like a first name/last name kind of deal, only we're sticking to the musical themes of the faction. Solfege is a musical notation system (do re mi fa sol la si do), of which we're combining two to form a name, and the second part of the name hinges on a particular way of playing. Basically, these names revolve around the "voice" of the Hero.
      • Examples: Sila Minor; Lare Fermata
  • The [Virtue] [Factional last name]
    • This last name option is based on classical "virtues" (we went the esoterical route here), adding that each Hero would have been shaped in part by the culture they were observing from the shadows for so long. Therefore, the last name is taken straight from that faction.
      • Examples: The Serene Arrakyo; The Luminous Kersho

This vote will run for two weeks. What's your favorite option?
