And to my knowledge I do believe there are some decent modders out there still having fun with the game, though I'm still brand new to the game myself and haven't picked up any yet as I still have yet to win a game on normal vs 3 AI. Granted I refuse to ally with anyone, ever. lol

That said, there is "supposedly" going to be a patch after Endless Legend and Dungeon of the Endless is released, but it's still a minor disappointment to have the knowledge to know a game you have come to enjoy is on the back burner.

The last update (1.1.42) was released on January 15th. The release notes can be found here.

The devs have promised us at least one fix-up patch after Endless Legend is released. smiley: smile Since they are a small studio they had to devote everyone to EL and DotE.

But when EL was revealed they hinted at a sequel for ES, so hopefully...

I'm surprised! I am playing my first game, against 3 normal AI, no alliances, and I am beating it so easily it's boring. The thing is, I am rubbish in this kind of game! I had been contemplating not playing it again because of no challenge, maybe I'll be lucky and it does offer some kind of challenge after all....

How do you manage to not win ???? smiley: smile

Simply try harder difficulty if you are bored by normal AI ^^

Even Endless Difficulty has always been immediately facerollable by new players. Nothing has changed in that regard since release. You don't even need to rely on cheese: the AI just plays very suboptimally.

I spent a while back in 2012 trying to generate settings that were most favorable to the AI. Basically you need to mitigate chokepoints as well as those sections that need the early tech to warp through (I forgot the name, it's been a while). Even then you win easily, just not as fast.

You are both correct.. if you want a hard game.. see how I chose to avoid the loopholes in the game (easy parts.. the easy parts are hero with "emergency shelter" or tech trading for free with the AI)

- Play harmony

- Take -168 points

and that will be a hard game! If not impossible game..

"harmony" changed it.. because if not for harmony.. you would have to choose to be optionally naive and not exploit the "tech trading bug" or again the hero with the "emergency shelter" was the mofo that could win just about any battle.. when I play I don't lose ships.. and harmony "in theory" forces you to lose ships.. and lots of them.. in-fact in theory the only way to win harmony is to run awesome production and a ship building factory.. so yah it can be won.. but not with the above settings it may well be impossible.. I speak from putting about 100-300 hours into the game over the course of 2-3 years..

While Moo2 will always be superior smiley: wink this game is a adequate substitute/experience vs. a game that came out in 1996..

So the idea that this game can't present a challenge is a lie.. it can.. I believe -168 custom race that is harmony.. is possibly impossible to beat.. anyway try it once and find out..? it looks like this on your empire menu...?

And it's true in some respects that harmony with these settings is not fun.. it's HARD! Aka many of the nice settings make the game easier/better.. (upgrading ships makes its nicer/funner) so it's up to you to figure out how difficult you can make it.. I think command points is probably really important to winning or making it winnable.. and research/production smiley: wink
