Please consider allowing refusal of free tech. events

Greetings,



Excellent game, been keeping me up late for the past couple weeks. I don't like my first post to be negative so I'm going to phrase this as a request instead of a complaint.



Request:



Please consider modifying the event system to allow players to refuse free tech. from events such as Successful Skunkworks.





Details:



I had 3 turns remaining on Quantum Communications research, which gives you +2 CP per ship unlocked. I had been holding off unlocking Destroyer for this very reason. Unfortunately I got the event Successful Skunkworks which rewarded me Efficient Shielding, unlocking the Destroyer. This meant that I lost out on those +2 CP.



Summary:



It would be nice if the event system allowed players to refuse free tech. when offered, in case they have a plan in place that would be negatively impacted.

You don't lose anything. You get your CP based on the number of ships you have unlocked even if they were previously unlocked.

I actually did lose out on those CP. I had 7 CP due to custom faction traits and the early tech. that increases CP. When this event awarded me the Destroyer and then I finished training the higher level tech., I remained at 7 CP instead of 9. When I then learned Cruiser I was moved to 9 CP which if it weren't for the event I would've been at 11.



Unfortunately I started a new game when that happened and neglected to save a copy so I could double-check.

That's a bug then. I had all but 1 class of ship unlocked when I got Quantum Communications in my last game, and still ended up with the correct final amount of CP (22 +/- Racial Traits, so 23 in that case for me w/ Big Fleets racial trait). Be aware that sometimes it takes the game a turn to properly apply things, it seems to double check things during the "end turn" phase so if you have an issue like that always give it a turn to correct itself just in case, but yeah, if that happens again submit a bug report.

Thanks, I'll definitely pay more attention to the end turn "cleanup". If it happens again I'll submit the save in a bug report.
