The ship in the green box, where did it come from?

I have a patrol ship at "CENTAURUS" for many terms and there is no other unwatched route to this system, yet the green ship appeared out of nowhere. Did it go from "ALIOTH" the long way (outside the lines)? Why would the AI do this?

If they had not discovered the systems leading out of Centaurus, they could have just carried on I think, unless this just works on wormholes (that's usually where I blockade star lanes so I'm not sure about normal star connections).

Was your patrol ship set to blockading?

Hi, thanks for the answer!

I am very new to this game, so I am afraid I didnt quite get it yet, maybe you can help again:

To clarify:

The ship suddenly appeared "out of nowhere" at WEI. I would have expected it to have passed either CENTAURUS or CHENG on the way. Both systems where watched by me on every turn (ship at CENTAURUS, colony at CHENG). I play very (!) slowly turn by turn, I would have seen that ship.

Or does ES (unlike for example the settings I play with in Civ4) not show me an enemy ship that passes through territory watched by me?

Not sure, maybe not. I will replay the last few moves to check if that changes things.

If you have a detection radius somewhere (provided by either a ship or a system), you'll see whatever goes through it. It is possible that this happened while you were pushing a ship somewhere else as your detection radius around Wei is rather small (no ship). There is no way that on turn 25 a ship would already ahve the technology to skip star lanes altogether, as this is generally a mid/late game technology, and I've very rarely seen the game use it, and only in instances where you control and deny all other access routes.

There is no option to not see enemy movement that I know of, but I'm a creature of habit and it's possible that during my hundreds of hours on Endless Space I've missed it. However, I just checked and there weren't any in the options or in the options offered only in game creation.

As a result, I'm thinking you most likely have missed it. I'd be curious to see what happens after you look again, though. smiley: smile

Solved it. I am very glad it was just my mistake, I missed that many moves earlier a ship went through my "blockade".

I dont know why I didnt think of replaying the last few moves earlier, since its an obvious way to find out what happened. After replaying a few times I found out what had happened.

Thanks again!

You have to be careful with these unassuming exploration ships, lest after it come colony ships or surprise blockades. smiley: smile

Enjoy your game!
