I would prefer a black map background. Is this possible? While the background is pretty and I suppose it adds to the ambiance of the game, it makes it hard to see the game's stars and generally adds clutter to the screen.

I agree. How can I get rid of the background stars?

I mean given that this thread hasn't gotten any other replies for three years you probably can't.

What sayeth the developers? For some customers, the background stars represent clutter. Other people have certain levels of color blindness and for them, the extra stars promote confusion and decrease Endless Space' playability.



Looking forward to a graphics option that turns off the background stars.



Turning off background stars will allow gamers with visual impairment to play the game, thus increasing the customer base and in turn, increasing sales and revenue.
