Masters of Orion

The moment i saw the game and the design ideals behind it i fell in love with it, and preordered.

After playing the alpha i have to say that it reminds me on one of the best TBS games i ever played. Masters of Orion 2

Not just in the space expansion theme, but i see a lot of little details coming back from that era. Which is not a bad thing. On the contrary.

In my humble opinion it would be a nice thing to move more elements from MoO2 to this game, especially along the lines of research since the original had a staggering amount of roughly 220 different researchable techs from which most were active game elements (buildings, troops, ships, weapons each with their respective animation).

Anyway, keep it up. This game has the stuff to make a complete circle amongst the fans of the genre. Thumbs up

isnt that 3 words.........lol i know where you are comming from that was exactly what i was thinking of. MoO2 was a great game the one thing i missed from MoO was the Crystilline entity that would fly around the Galaxy destroying planets. they should have a way to warp from Galaxys thoigh to make this game truly Endless...

I've never played any of the Masters of Orion games. From my perspective, it's "Sword of the Stars as I wanted it to be."

More like Star Ruler and Civ combo rather than SoSE.

Word!

Thats what i thought too, it feels like MoO2. Some stuff need still work, like diplomatic system and the tech system could use an overhaul too(i like the tree style but MoO2 "Endless System" was an bit better).

Combat System is kinda great and kinda crap same time smiley: smile i like the cards play style and the movie like camera style but... damm i miss moving my units arround. smiley: biggrin

It's got all the really good aspects of both. The weapons are pure Galciv but the main game shouts "Moo"!

I agree 100% with Kimarous... "Sword of the Stras II the way it should be !! Point being this game is only in Alpha stage and is fun/great (with all sorts of good ideas from fans) & SOTS2 has been out since Oct. 2011 (still broken by the by)

What happened with sword of the stars 2 was sadly not unprecedented in the gaming industry, but a very rare thing to say the least.

Still cant figure out what made Paradox release a game as full blown merchandise while it is barely in the beta stage of its development, but they essentially beheaded them self with it.

Pulling off something like this is like putting a gun to your company's head and pulling the trigger.

Aaaand... dont know why, but on this note the first thing that jumps into my mind is EA's ending of Mass effect 3 ._.
