Does any one else find it hard to spread your empire to new systems early in the game?

It also seems to be quite difficult to get new people at a fast rate.

No

Labor administrator with production boost on home planet can make quickly produced colony ships which can seize a number of systems pretty quick

Have your home planet exploit food and you should be able to still expand relatively quickly. Onc eyou feel you have expanded enough you can switch your home planet to exploit whatever you think is best.

On the first 3 heroes cross finger you have at least an administrator one. Then give him labor boost. Also if you want a fast expansion early, research the tech that unlock the +food buildings.

Also lower your taxes, they will reproduce faster smiley: stickouttongue

Yup, all you should really go for in the start is food production, always try to colonize planets with higher food yields first.

I rather have the problem that my population grows too fast and I can't build attack ships fast enough (that's with Cravers!) because I'm forced to build colony ships or have food wasted... (I'm turn 36 right now)
