I just got my first battle, and it seems you only fight with one fleet at a time, which means no huge battles?



Also is the battles always the same, the one I had was the enemy slightly infront of me, while I warped in and fired from slighty behind, is this always the same or do you some times have head on battles?

It's one fleet against one fleet every combat...but fleets get larger with tech unlocks

As Nefloyd mentioned, it's always one fleet versus another. You can increase your command points available for each fleet by researching the Trade & Diplomacy tree.



As for the battles always being the same: To my knowledge combat is displayed in one of two ways, either with your fleet warping in or the enemy fleet warping in. This positioning depends on which fleet initiates battle. I'm not sure whether the good folks over at Amplitude have any plans for this, but that's combat in it's current state.
