Complexity isn't high, as it's easy to start a game and doing things. The only thing you absolutely need to know is how to look at enemy ship designs to know how to counter them. After it's simple : do they have missiles ? Load some flak. Kinetic ? More armor. Etc.

I find the game a lot easier to play than Sins.

I am MASSIVELY impressed that this is considered "Alpha". This is in better condition than SOTS2 was at "release", and as it currently plays (with most recent patches).

Fantastic work.

(Btw, it is NOT SOTS2, its actually enjoyable to play!)

agreed its better even with the latest version SoTS II (i bought SoTS II too), its a marvelous achievements for amplitude studios!!

You can stack units into fleets etc. so it makes it somewhat easier. Once you get to the "dominating the universe size", there can be lots of things to do per turn (but you would expect that). this is really unavoidable (its turn based, each system can have things happen each turn :P)

Ive found it fantastic, considering its a "alpha".

Man everyon here loves it. Last question I promise:

Hows end game? I had a whopping 0 fun with Civ 5 (and other games) once the game got to the point of me needing to order 30+ things around every turn.

The game is beautifully made and quite easy to understand, the problem is much more to master it. smiley: smile

Which techs to prioritize, which ships to build, how to work diplomatically etc....

All in all, totally interesting and challenging for me. smiley: smile

ES is on the best way to becoming the "real" MoO3 ... a long had dream come true actually.

The learning curve may look shallow but it isnt not at all, but even as a newcomer its easy to get the first few stepps and after that is there no limit.

Hrm, hows the pacing then? I like to be able to do small maps that have game times of around 2-6 hours in general.

I find that the game has just the right level of complexity to keep my enjoyment peaked. Various automation systems really help as well.

Im Sins fan, and Hell Yeah!! I love Endless space, cant stop playing it for another turn!!

to sum up Endless Space strong points are (after playing the alpha ver):

+Intuitive UI yet informative and beautiful (unlike SoTSII)

+Simple learning curve like Sins, but with a lot of depth

+Mix of planet and system management system, no need of extensive micromanagement over each system or planets

+Gorgeous map, UI, and planet details

unlike SOTSE:R and current 4x games this takes a more traditional direction with turnbased combat influenced by "battle cards" the galaxy map is gorgeous. but can be a hassle when moving some ships.

unlike the current beta for SOTSE:R you can unlock titan class ships in a short amount of time ( depending on certain conditions its still in beta so i dont know if this is final) so you have early access to it but with a lack of durability and abilities unless you keep on researching to make them stronger.

with this game you have to unlock ship hulls and weapons with research and it takes a while.
