When I am in a system and 2 or 3 enemy factions come to say hi at the same time, I would like to be able to choose which one I deal with first instead of having to do with the joys of randomness. (At least seems random to me).

I agree with you.

But your post made me think about situation when there are only two opponents, with several fleets.

I think the choice of order should be the defender's one.

We should choose in which order our fleets fight when they are attacked during ennemy round. (when i have two fleets, one specialised in space battle and another more in ground attack, I would like to ensure the battle one is the first in line)

On the other hand, when we attack, I feel right that IA choose which one of its fleet is the first.

Furthermore, maybe one of the military technology could allow to try to take ennemy in the back (with a % of chances depending of his detection ability for example) and then choose which fleet we want to strike first.

Just going to tack onto this.

Whenever an AI enters my system, or I enter an AI system they get first choice of whether to attack or not and who. If I have 3 15/15 fleets and an 8/15 fleet in my own system and the AI jumps in with a 12/15 fleet he can choose to attack and easily destroy my 8/15 before I have the choice of engaging with a 15/15.

Could you please add a system pop up when a battle is going to happen and allow us to choose which fleet will fight the enemy? Also could you let the choice to engage fall to the defender?

Currently I just feel the need to never leave a core world without a fleet being full, as the AI is free to pick easy targets. Same thing goes for colony ships and such interacting with pirates. I can jump into a system with an 8/8 fleet which I moved there with a colony ship in a separate fleet. Or pirates can jump into a system I'm in with the same. The pirates are then free to attack and destroy my colony ship even though I have a superior force sitting right there with them. Very frustrating.

+1 for this, or arrange our fleets in a certain order and battles are fought by the highest positioned fleet first.

Or more logically, the choix should be based upon fleet power, when you click on fighting, it is the better vs the better, admirals won't send picket ships to suicide

That sounds like a pretty good solution.

This thread is the origin of discussions about choice of target if more than one target is present.

Other threads about this have been archived:

Feel free to post here about this topic here and inform yourself about the variations the threads listed above have already discussed, but don't open new suggestion threads for anything alike. smiley: wink
