In galaxy setup, random AI enemies should produce only one copy of each.

I've noticed that when I set up all random opponents, in one game I was the united empire...my two closest AI opponents were two copies of the amoebas and another United Empire. kind of strange and boring, each civ should really only have one of each in the galaxy.

I've thought the same, these days i just set it to all 8 factions & manual set each faction.

I've been doing that too, it's kind of a pain in the ass though.

True but i dont mind tho. Would be handy if your idea was there. Being able to start a wee game with 2/3 factions is handy when you just want a short game to kill some time.

This is actually the sole reason why I set the factions manually, to avoid having the same faction twice on the map. As a result, I always end up playing against the same factions somehow.

So, yeah, I support this idea.

Agreed - especially since all duplicates are referred to by race name instead of individual empire names. I manual set every time just to avoid duplicate empires.
