The idea behind this suggestion is relatively simple: I suggest a way to have a history of all of your faction's Wars and Conflicts from Turn 1.

This is how it would work: After opening a trade/communication window with another faction, there would be a button (With the rest) reading: "Wars With This Faction". Upon clicking this, you would be taken to a new window that would show your wars and conflicts with said faction.

A "War" would be defined as a Conflict beginning with a deceleration of war and lasting 20+ turns.

A "Conflict" would be defined as an engagement with said faction while at Cold war, without a formal Deceleration of War. After 5 turns without any engagements, the Conflict would be considered over.

Wars and Conflicts could be sorted by: Type, Date, Duration, Victor, etc.

Upon clicking on a War or Conflict, a new window would open. This would bear some resemblance to a Battle Report. It would show the statistics for: Ships lost/Enemy ships Destroyed, Hp Lost/Hp Loss Inflicted, Number of Battles, Net Territory Taken/Net Territory Lost (In Parsecs Squared) and anything else that might be of use.

Underneath each statistic, there would be a meter showing how each faction is faring (Much like the color meter shown before a battle).

Also, there would be a section of the window showing the participants and the Victors.

In addition, you could re-name the War/Conflict. By default, it would be: War I, War II, Conflict VII, etc.

Also, there could be a button reading "Engagements". It would open a new window showing all the AARs.

This is just a basic idea for how this would work.

Constructive Criticism welcome.

I think this is a great idea that's not unlike the record system utilized by Europa Universalis 3 (Among other Paradox titles). It adds a whole whack of flavour and really gives you the feeling that you are making the 'headlines' of the day, not to mention a running score as to how the war is faring for either side.

Yes, that is the main point. It believe it would allow more tactical decisions.
