Allow only one player / AI from each race in random generation

It breaks my immersion when I play in a space 4X game and get the same race in more than one player/AI slot.

I would like to have an option to use unique races so that no race will appear twice in a random-race game, as long as there are more races than players (human + AI).

I agree with that. Four Sheredyn or Cravers in large universe are awful.

Some scenarios are believable. I don't see any reason there couldn't be two factions of Sophons or Amoeba, for example.



Two Empires or multiple Harmony? That makes a lot less sense.



Despite the fact I think some factions are reasonable from a lore perspective, I do agree with the sentiment of the thread; races should never be duplicated in random-race games. At the very least, there should be a toggle.

Seems like a second slider controlling the maximum number of duplicate factions could be added.

Excellent idea. I think this would be the optimal solution, dependent on programming feasibility.
