My suggestion is that there be some form of construction you can do which builds a trade link between two systems you own, allowing you to choose how much food, industry etc you want to send from one system to the next (food would probably make the most sense). This construction would obviously cost dust to maintain, and possibly it could be joined with the idea of intra-empire trade routes.
With this system, I Will have one system for producing only food, and one for producing only dust.
the fist one will send food everywhere, the second will pay the trade links.. and all the other ? well only science or production... I fear some unbalancing because of this...
I think what OP means is that he would be aiming to include trade links which simply act as dust income, a la 99% of other trade systems in videogames. I think it's a nice idea which definitely deserves consideration
