I think an added bonus while colonizing would be able to name planets and star systems, even in multiplayer to get a real sense of ownership in the game.

You can rename systems. I found this out yesterday during my first multiplayer game, when I was a bit startled to discover I was trading with a system called Ponyville. Against a player who had chosen pink as his colour.
Just go into the system view and double click on the name in the top right hand corner.
Not being able to rename planets bugs me more than the system names. I hate having "System name 1, 2, 3 ,4 ,5" or whatever for the planet names, it's just ridiculous. If theyd change that everything would be gravy.
