Play past victory?

I'm new to the game and the forum but I was wondering if anyone had considered allowing people to play past victory conditions?

Also being able to play in one player would be nice just to explore the mechanics and science of the game without worrying about other empires.

If there is a way to do this already and I just didn't notice I apologize in advance.

(Is this game related to Masters of Orion at all?)

If you check the release notes (/#/endless-space/forum/27-general/thread/10966-release-notes), you'll see that you can indeed play past victory.
