As for the tooltip on Monohull Construction - it shows "+10 XP on System" but I believe this should be +10 HP? as the description mentions making your ships more durable.

The tooltip is correct. +10XP per ship corresponds to one levelup for each ship. Ship levels increase their HP. The increment for lvl 1 to lvl 2 is about 5%.

So Monohull Construction equals 5% more ship HP by giving you 10 more ship XP.
