Has anybody else been able to use an affinity other than Sowers for StarSystemOwner? In StarSystemDescriptor.xml, the Sowers affinity is found as "StarSystemOwnerSower".



What I'm trying to do is add another entry and use another faction's affinity name (e.g. StarSystemOwnerMetal) as I don't want to overwrite the Sowers affinity, but it's not working with anything but Sower. I can however change the PropertyModifierDescriptors to anything I like and, as long as it's StarSystemOwnerSower, it works no problem.



Everything is set up essentially identical to Sower entries in EmpireDescriptor, EmpireTraitDescriptor, FactionTrait, Faction, and GalaxySettings. Could I be missing something or is it somewhat hard-coded for Sowers only?

I think it could indeed be a Hardcoded Sower-Only thing.



I especially think so because when I used it myself back then to edit PlanetInfrastructure.xml, Meedoc actually replaced it by:

$(.../AffinitySower)

It basically does the same but I think AffinityRacename works for all races.

I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me about PlanetInfrastructure, but it gave me an idea for a workaround. I've made my faction affinity an empire improvement and I unlock it using TechPlayerStart. Works like a charm.

It works like a charm because that's how it's supposed to be done anyways. ^^
