In the current state of the game, if someone decides to hang behind in previous eras to farm all of the era stars, and they don't fall too far behind doing it, they just get too far ahead in fame to even compete with. this makes any strategy other than staying in the ancient and classic eras for most of the game until you can snowball subpar.
i recommend a few settings that can be changed when setting up your game so you have a little more control over the pace of the game:
- Fame Degradation - an option for you to control how hard and when degradation starts happening from taking too long to get era stars
- First To Era Bonus - an option to allow the first so many empires to advance to the next era to gain a flat bonus amount of fame, or an increase to each era star
- Limited Stars Per Era - an option to allow you to reduce or remove the fame gained for each star if you have collected a certain number of stars in an era.
I'm mostly trying to get a playstyle where you can experience the late game without the last 4 eras being crammed into 50 turns and devolving to a rush to end the game with an unsurmountable fame lead
