Armies should consume food from the territories where they are located. And if they are outside the borders, there should be food supply lines to maintain health
Food supply chain efficiency could be impact with infrastructures like: do you have the road techonology, is there any sea supply line to speed up (buff the efficiency) of the current army where it is. Add air support in the mix.
Then add a military filter as the trade filter where you see your supply chain and the ennemy's ones if you have a good espionnage to interrupt and cause maximum disruption.
