I sent this pm to Dev team and was asked to place it here in forum too and that is I have been looking at how the Game2gether forums being handled and which no fault of you or anyone in particular. Everyone has a right to point their views and alot are similar. My suggestion is why dont you have topic headings for example [Suggestions] Combat , [Suggestion] Race and etc where people can raise their view and not repeat suggestion already mentioned.

This hopefully reduces the large amount of repition and what Devs have to weed through.

Anyway just an idea.

A lot of the thread in the "endless space" forum shoudl be either on the alpha support or design discussion.

Those forums need more moderators.

I'll chime in with an agreement with VieuxChat on this one. There's absolutely no way to prevent users from being, well... users.

They will:
  • Post in the wrong subforum.
  • Duplicate existing posts.
  • Ask questions that have been answered 1,000 times.
  • Ignore stickies.
  • Misspell tags.
  • Fail to tag.
  • Create topics with exceedingly vague titles.
  • Create topics with no useful content.
  • Create topics that are completely indecipherable.
  • Question Authority.

The only way to mediate the headache that all these things cause is constant vigilance, and a crack-squad of elite super-moderators with mysterious pasts prepared to move, remove, combine, and inform. Structure in a forum is fine, but if I may misquote Star Wars... the more you tighten your grip, the more topics will slip through your fingers.

Things are worse right now because of the onslaught of Steam users who are too excited to read any of the back topics...

should slow down a bit after the initial nerdgasms and become 'organizable'

i used to read everything on the forum... can't even get to a percentage of them now (gotta go play more!)

So true. Even with the best good will, it's hard.

That's so true. It seems few of new users have read the sticky about the universe.

I actually try to read at least slightly over everything. Got the stars achievement for it, too, but it is really hard. XD

Yes. Yes. Yes. Just like we ran out of Steam keys, we were not expecting the forums to explode like this. smiley: biggrin

It's still the weekend here in Paris, so we will see about that on Monday, but I agree, we need to discuss the forums with the Amplitude team. smiley: smile

Well, at least trying to put some of the info together a bit will help. I am still struggling to wade through all the info I might have missed.

There will be a remedy to this. As it is now there is enough to do to just read through it all without taking any action whatsoever to keep me and Steph'nie occupied. So once we get a few more mods it should start becoming more hospitable. smiley: smile

I can say that when you have 30 pages of threads to go through in a matter of days and you are two ppl doing it then it takes a lot of time.
