nah i'm fine with the separation of avatar and profile picture. But if you want to make your own forum avatar, more power to ya. Just nothing inappropriate is appreciated.

It'd be nice, but it's not of overwhelming importance to me. If anything, a compromise would work out best, where members with more experience, say, are eventually granted the privilege of custom avatars, after a fixed point. Kind of like the moderators, I guess.

yes i like that idea but i think player's who have bought the game such as me and most likely you such be given that priviaged but if someones does not buy then they earn it i just feel as if it ain't a proper forum without your own touch

The status has not changed. So far the production of new avatars that are Endless Space related is the only thing planned. Thread moved and closed.
