Just wondering: if you contact Steam Support: do they give you a refund so you can buy the other one (adding the refund money to your Steam wallet so you can add the little extra for the Emperor's Edition)?

I never asked for a refund from them, so I'm quite curious. smiley: smile

Hi all, I have a quick question and would be very grateful for some help/advice:

When I first discovered ES I purchased the Admiral edition because I was new to it all and wasn't sure whether I would be active in the forum because, in short, not being a huge gamer etc I didn't think I could make a big contribution (i.e. "what do I know") smiley: smile

However, having now played the alpha for a while and reading and posting around the forum I decided that I should really have purchased the Emperor edition and not the Admiral one in the first place. Is there a way to update or buy an add-on or something like that to upgrade my admiral edition to the emperor edition? Would be sad (and somewhat silly) if I now had no other choice but to buy the Emperor edition as well... smiley: frown

Any ideas anyone?

I think we should have an upgrade button for a lot of games that offer additional features like this one, I agree but in the same sense this game is in alpha and the reason a game in alpha sells access much like when Minecraft did something similar it's to generate funds for further development, I think it would be overall helpful to the devs to simply buy the emperor edition too and maybe pass your other CD key to a friend or simply use the emperor edition yourself. Regardless it's your choice and I know not everyone has the extra cash but that's just my take on it, I bought emperor from the get go however, but on Diablo III I started out with standard and bought the collectors for the magical wings smiley: stickouttongue

People have been suggesting the upgrade feature on Steam (similar to the Trine to Trine 2 upgrade). This is something we might consider, but we have to discuss it with Valve first.

Thanks for the messages and particularly yours Steph'nie. I hope the plans for an upgrade feature on steam are met with sucess, since I would gladly pay a few euros for an upgrade from admiral to emperor edition if it saves me from having to purchase the emperor edition as well (costly if you have to buy both) and create a new account etc and start all over....

I would like to throw my bid in here too. My brother initially bought the game and we both love it. My brother went and gifted the Admiral edition to me through steam, and at the time I didn't know an Emperor edition even existed. I would gladly pay to upgrade. Hell id even go as far as buying a whole new copy if I could.

Steam has a "no refund" policy on games, the only exception applies to game Pre-orders. Endless Space is classified as a pre-order at this time correct? If so, this would be an option for sure (refund and rebuy)

Would that not be a bit complicated? How would it work? Do you then also need a new Forum account?

Sounds like it might be less effort for them to allow the upgrade rather than refunding and rebuying things

I think so, too. I had a quick look around steam and I couldn't see a refund option anywhere for ES. Also, I somehow think it would be stupid to delete the game and get a refund just to then again buy it, download it and install it....

Let's just have an upgrade option for the admiral edition, shall we? I'll happily pay a few euros to bring the total amount spent up to what everyone else paid for the emperor edition as well as an extra 1 or 2 euros as punishment because I didn't buy the emperor edition immediately (not knowing is no excuse smiley: smile)....

I thought the refund was invalidated when you begin downloading the game using steam. Most pre-orders you don't get to actually play the game before its released. However I would like to state I'm really glad that with ES you can smiley: smile An upgrade version to Emperor edition pre release sounds like a good idea.

Ah, thanks for the info Theodemir, so you cannot actually refund ES via steam... in that case it only really leaves an upgrade function... I hope we get one soon, I'm relying on the Devs here! smiley: smile

Steam are notoriously known for ignoring regional laws regarding refunds and access to your accounts. Most of the time I've had to deal (or helped friends deal) with them we've had to quote the EU laws on the subjects to even get anything more than a "Nope - no refunds" response from them.

If ever I had to say something bad about Steam, it would be their costumer service and terms of conditions. smiley: frown
