I'm assuming this was done by removing points earned through attachment views. My tutorial threads together have had over 30k views and with about 15 attachments each that was turning out to be a lot of exp. At least 10k. I'm not sure why this was done, or even if it was intentional.

This was intentional, as attachment views are VERY easy to achieve, and one can include one in every post they made, and no one would event notice (1x1 pixel transparent png, for example).



So in order to cut out on the possibility of abuse, the "value" of attachment-views went down.

The way to cut abuse is to cut the abusers, not break a working system. Spam, it's everywhere, I consider half of what the mods post to be spam. Tagging, wouldn't be too hard to automate. The same is true of ratings. This is the second time the forums have in some way removed from me what I felt were well earned status symbols.

Seriously dude, relax. No one freaking cares that you're level a billion on a forum. I'd never even heard of you until a few days ago, and this thread has made me lose respect for you, because you couldn't abide by the change in rules.

A bit rough. Some people find it interesting tracking their gradual way up the forum list. Its not for everyone. Stephanie does say that you can make a formal complaint to her and she will consider it if you feel hard done by. But everyone has lost a lot of points throughout this change. Personally I find it interesting seeing where everyone winds up due to the change but generally I have gone back into the same position I was at before.

ArrowLance is particularly upset because he had a very highly read tutorial (say, 100,000 views) with lots of attachments (say, 15 pictures). Which translates into 750,000 forum-exp.



It would take seventy five thousand "posts" to recoup that loss.
