I think before we can have a greater variety of ship mods, we would have to have a greater variety of tasks that ships need to perform.  right now, ships can move, attack, blockade, guard, siege or invade a system...and that's pretty much it.  Most of the other conceivable duties of a starship are handled by the civilian fleets that automatically cross the starlanes, including food shipments to outposts, population shuttles and such.  We've already got quite a breadth of ship mods that cover our needs in several ways; trying to add more just for the sake of it might leave the ship design menu quite cluttered.


What kinds of mods do you think you'd want?

I would like to be able to create different types of hulls for different custom factions. Basically the way ships look on a visual aspect but not changing its tasks or duties in order to create a more unique faction than having to use an original faction's looks. In creating a custom faction, I do not want them to look and feel like an original faction. I want them to be unique and different versus any original faction.
