Right from the start I've been at odds with the follow function on my own ideas. Should I follow my own ideas or not? Might I miss something when I don't? Then again I always have to subtract one follower when I want to know who else follows...
My suggestion is simple, the idea starter shouldn't even have the option to choose whether to follow his own topics or not. Either make it so that the idea starter always automatically follows and can't stop, or make it so that he doesn't and can't start. Obviously the notifications should stay the same.
