Is this the Archivist's Armistice, or Tarosh's Truce? You tell us!

Hey everyone,

Let's just kick right to the chase, because we've got a lot of stuff on the way: Amplitude will be celebrating its 7th anniversary three days from now. We've got a LOT of cool stuff coming your way, starting with:

Vaulters Expansion - coming January 25th

This first Endless Space 2 Expansion re-introduces players to the Vaulters, our all-time fan favorite civilization. Yup, most of you folks guessed that one right.

A new civilization means, as usual, a new way to play: the Vaulters will have the ability to teleport and use the Argosy - their legacy colony ship featured in the Prologue video.

They will also have their own heroes (including the famous Opbot), technologies, buildings, a new starting special node, the Sisters of Mercy minor civilization that they brought with them from Auriga, and of course, a brand-new main quest. Will they discover the truth about their Gods? Will they find a new home to start all over? Will they save their people that stayed on Auriga?

The Expansion will also feature new exotic combat modules like boarding and taking control of ships, as well as the Pirate Diplomacy gameplay enabling negotiations with their leader.

The Vaulters expansion will be released on the 25th, and you can already preorder for 10% off on Steam this week for $9.89, down from the full price of $10.99.

The Community Challenge Add-On is live!

Update 1.2.0 includes the community add-on content you all unlocked through playing, as well as the contents of update preview 1.1.15, plus some more fixes, additions and balance changes, as well as localization improvements. Here's a reminder of the free stuff:

  • New planetary anomaly: the “High Energy Plasmasphere”.
  • New galaxy type: the 6-branches spiral.
  • New event: handle a new immigration crisis. Do you have what it takes to save the Remnant refugees?
  • New ship modules: the powerful Swarm Missiles, Railguns and Energy Squadrons!
  • New hero: Burra Techseeker, an amphibian famed as an exotic ship module inventor.
  • Mezari fleet skin: a blast from the past! The ancestral Mezari fleet skin for the United Empire civilization!
  • Find the full update notes here
  • Not sure how to unlock the community add-on? Check HERE

Endless Day Events return to all our games!

With every trek of our little blue dot around its parent star, the Events of the Endless Day come back! Starting on the 21st in Endless Space, Endless Legend & Dungeon of the Endless get a chance to find out more of what the Archivist has been up to. See this previous blog post to learn how to unlock the events. And find out more about the program for the Endless Day celebrations on our dedicated website!

Uhhh... Amplitude? That's not how pre-purchase should work, I'm already playing them.

Hi,

I purchased Endless Space 2 this Christmas after looking forward to it anxiosly since the community free weekend. I've been playing Endless Dungeons for years and it still amazes me, you guys do awesome games and after very bad experiences with other developers due bad policies(CA and Paradox mainly) I do trully want to fully support you. I will eventually buy all your games when my wallet allows me so and keep supporting you throught this forums(Still playing deeply ES2;)), I'm that very grateful for finding you. I do love your approach to the market, the community and your games unique artistic and gaming experience.

I'm pre-purchasing this DLC, knowing in advance it's going to be a blowmind content. However I do feel bittersweet about it, 10 bucks is a good target but can't suppress the mixed up feelings about this being the first of more payable DLCs.

It does not intent to be a critique nor warning, just wanted to express it. You are great but please don't fall in that.

Thanks for your work!

Speaking from past experience, Amplitude sells only large content updates. There will be many more free small ones, like the last community challenge addon. So you are free to jump in hype train from the beggining, or wait for sweet discounts later.

As Sublustris said. I've been telling pretty much about everyone I know about Amplitude, I've played with so much glee all(?) their games, I've spent so long listening to their OST (FlyByNo, you absolute genius...!). But I had yet to make an account on game together. A friend of mine who fell in love with endless space 2 sent me a link to this thread, and when I saw your post Solarak, I couldn't help but make an account to defend this studio that I love.

They make so much free content, and their DLC bring so much to the table, they ought to be the studio I instant-buy basicaly everything they make. And I'm usually a tough customer. When they launch a dlc, this is a complete overall, an extension to the base game. This isn't your "here's a color swap, that will be 2$" run of the mill dlc. You can feel the passion behind everything they do. Hell, you can fell the passion every players have for their games and creation! Just take a look at the faction that the community created!

...For a first post on this forum, I'll try (a bit late, if anything) to not go on a rant, I just hope that you can see them for what they really are, and remember that not every studios are the same, some might do things for the money, and some work because they truly love what they do.

If Endless Legend was any indicator, Amplitude is great at making DLC that's both fun and reasonably priced. I don't think they're turning into Paradox anytime soon.
