Hello everybody!

We have big news to share with you today: Amplitude is going indie again!

Our journey with SEGA over the last 8 years has been amazing, and we have learned so much working with them, but now we are returning to our roots as an independent studio. With ownership of the studio returning to some of our original founders and members of the team, the creative vision of our games and the Endless universe rests in the hands of those who know them best. While we are going our separate ways now, we part on good terms and wish our friends at SEGA the best for all their future projects.

Back to Our Roots

In the words of our founder Romain de Waubert de Genlis:

Our studio is backed by strong and meaningful franchises and our team is committed to creating the best games possible. With our extensive experiences in strategy game development and two exciting titles currently in progress, we are confident in our ability to deliver outstanding experience to players. This decision allows us to be more agile in our approach while continuing to shape the vision that has been ours from the very beginning, empowering us to push boundaries and be closer as ever of our community.

Working closely with our players has always been at the heart of our philosophy, and this will continue to shape our approach in the future. We could not have made these games and this universe without the support of our wonderful community. Thank all of you for your continued support!

We’ve got a new Humankind patch soon, but we’ll share more details about that next week, and we will talk more about what we have in store at Amplified next January, so remember to join us for our anniversary.

So, here’s to the future of Amplitude, our amazing community, and the Endless universe!

Interesting direction for the studio to take, I hope it ends up working out for everyone. I've no idea how all of these decisions would pan out, or what constitutes a 'good' direction, but it feels like one to me, if nothing else?

Hopeful about the upcoming HUMANKIND news, really happy to hear about that. Looking forward to testing, or helping out, how I can with feedback and so on, too, so it can be just right!

I wonder what bearing this will have going forward. Will Amplitude still have Sega as a Publisher, or go full solo?

Hopefully this is a return to form for you guys. Bringing the studio back to the days when EL and ES2 were bring made sounds incredibly promising.

Best of luck!

OMG! I can hardly believe it. Does this mean we’re FINALLY getting rid of Denuvo?

After being very disappointed in Amplitude last year, this move gives me hope again that the time is coming back when I had the most fun with Amplitude games (ES1, DotE, EL).

And two new games are in the works? Please tell me one of them is Endless Legend 2!

Oooh, this sounds great! I don't know if it is, pragmatically speaking, but it *sounds* so! ^^;

I 100% agree with this move.  To be honest, something has just felt "off" since you partnered with Sega.  Not necessarily anything against Sega personally, but it feels like Sega's vision for Amplitude and Amplitude's vision for themselves were not in alignment.  Best wishes as you pursue new endeavors.

Ouch, Creative Assembly really did you dirty.

I must have missed something.  What happened with CA?

I really hope this pans out for you guys, I'm sure taking a step like this comes with enormous risk. I'm very excited to see what the future holds and I wish you all the best in this new endevour!

Very exciting. I was worried about Sega's influence on Endless Dungeon. It felt like a bunch of "Safe Business Decisions" and not a lot of love.
I'm thrilled to hear Amplitude has enough love left in it to break off and try to create another beautiful passion project!
Support to everyone on the team! It takes courage, and I hope your passion shines through to bring us another masterpiece!

Phenomenal news!

I'm looking forward to seeing Amplitude return to its marvelous roots.  I believe the strong creative vision has always been a pillar of your games.  I look forward to supporting you in the future, a brighter future without the overhead that has hampered past projects.
