Hey community!

This topic might be a bit worthless, but I would like to hear your opinion on what 4X grand strategy game Amplitude should do next :) I mean, after Endless Dungeon, Amplitude will probably do another 4X game. Endless Space 3? Endless Legend 2? Humankind 2? Or maybe something new? Which option would excite you and give you the most hype? What 4X game you personally would like to see next?

My vote goes to Endless Legend 2, because... fantasy is always more interesting than history, although I wouldn't be against some kind of new series, perhaps set in a specific era, just like Mohawk Games did with the Old World. A Humankind, but in a specific era, with fleshed out systems and mechanics? I mean, why not :)

Yea, a Humankind 2 would be so fun in the future to further the 4x deletion meta started with Humankind.

For units they deleted the entire items system. They also deleted all the units stats and abilities. They put instead just 1 stat: "combat strength". I hope in Humankind 2 they delete that also and make it the 1st 4x where units don't have stats

Before each faction had an interesting compelling story that kept the player wanted to know more. In Humankind they deleted all that and added some event small text cards that are max 1-2 step related and create no story. In Humankind 2 i hope they delete that too and create empty event cards for a true sequel

In Endless Space 2 (last 4x before Humankind) menu and unit menu graphics were so great made in a 3D atmospheric way and making the players feel they were in that world. In Humankind they deleted all that, of course, what else, and they made simplistic hand drawn pictures. In Humankind 2 it would be great to delete even more and make menu and unit graphics black and white and made out of just lines and dots

They also released Humankind unfinished in a beta state filled with bugs, bad AI and a mess of a game but they asked a AAA price for it. In Humankind 2 it would be cool to sell the game in a pre alpha stage where nothing is implemented and ask 5 times the price of a AAA game

That would really make a good sequel worth of the Humankind deletion meta :)))) Sad but true

But to come back to your question, I would surely vote for Endless Legend 2 but not in the spirit of the deletion meta but the pre Humankind era where 4x were made with love, without DRM rubbish, and were very well received. I would also further refine the game with up to date map graphics, weather system, amazing faction story that branches in multiple ways so you can keep playing a faction and still be compelled to follow the story for multiple runs of the same faction, improved complex item system, improved complex stats and abilities, 3D menu and unit graphics that are cool and atmospheric improving from Endless Space 2, better AI, better diplomacy between factions and multiple winning conditions, alliance system and trade system and telling AI allies in what area they should come with the units to help. Manual combat where the player fully controls manually each unit in combat as a lot of people did not want to play EL because auto combat only and much much more cool stuff

Most likely we will be getting a Endless Legend 2 first, then Endless Space 3, but we most likely wont be seeing a Humankind 2 until sometime in the 2030's as Humankind is barely a year old now.

As much as I'd love them to add Endless Space 3, I think they are definitely going to go for Endless Legends 2 probably around 2024-2025ish, and Endless Space 3 2028-2029ish. In my opinion, Humankind was a pretty big failure for Amplitude at first, but I think it's turning around, still I'm skeptical about buying it. I'd much rather get Endless Space 2.

I really hope you guys are right and they start pumping the good games as I am so hyped about Endless Legend 2 followed by Endless Space 3. But upgrades in the original style and not in the Humankind deletion meta style.

And after those 2, maybe a CRPG in the Endless Universe or a Skyrim/Cyberpunk 2077 like 1st person RPG. Or a RTS 4x where there are no turns like Stellaris. Imagine a RTS like Warcraft 3 / Northgard in the Endless Universe. Even a chess like autobatter in the Endless universe would be fun. So many cool stuff they can come up with especially if they do them with love as the games they used to make before selling themselves willingly to Sega

@Imperial_Heron regarding Humankind turning around, what does that even mean?

What do you say to people who participated in the OpenDevs (their Alpha/Beta) in their spare time and used their resources to help Amplitude, a company they love to succeed with feedback and know how and than preordered the game, hoping for an amazing 4x, just to discover it was almost the same OpenDev build that dropped the “OpenDev” title filled with bugs, bad AI, and a mess of a game

What do you say to those people? Thanks for participating in our cash grab and hope you will buy our 20 paid DLCs to get a good 1.0 experience and turn it around? Is it normal to buy the deluxe game and a ton of paid DLCs just to get a good 1.0 game after the preorder you made was a beta build in disguise?

Yes, pumping free updates/DLC to make the game 1.0 worthy and get very positive approval like their other games do would be a nice repair, even though the unfinished game release but with full complete and refined game price that they asked still is a bad practice towards their buyers/fans. But from what I see they are pumping paid DLC, not free ones, and after 1 year of updates and paid DLC the approval is still bad (their 1st game on Steam with mixed rating for more than a year) and buyers still screwed, and I believe more paid DLC and not free ones will follow until the game becomes good, if ever. Sad times

I never thought Amplitude would ever do that, but here we are. I just hope Endless Legend 2 and Endless Space 3 will not get the same atrocious treatment

Well, I mean it's much better than what it used to be, with some improvements I'm certain Humankind can at least stand somewhat of a chance against Civ 6. There is still some magic I feel in Amplitude, Im certain that Endless Legends and Endless Space 3 wont be as big of a fluke as Humankind was, Amplitude hasn't lost all its magic just yet!

Remember Humankind is the exception, not the rule, Endless Legends 2 and Endless Space 3 have a lot of potential and I'm certain Amplitude will capitalize on this, Humankind might be a scam but Endless Legends and Endless Space 2 definitely seem worth the money.

This is true, remember, Amplitude has given us 4 great games, Humankinds bad launch and subequent blunders is a dissapointment, infact its only now starting to get on its feet, but 1 bad game shouldnt discount Amplitude entirely and failure is the greatest teacher. Now if Amplitude makes 2 or more bad games in a row then yes these questions should be asked in greater quantity.

Moving on... What features would you all like to see added to Endless Legends 2 and Endless Space 3 that were not in their previous installments?

for EL2, I would love to see the more unique heroes from EL1 like Researcher Namkang to return as those heroes have their own unique appearence unlike most of the other heroes. maybe some hero specific quests say Namkang desires a private lab built far from the cities and that lab grants a powerful science output.

As for ES3, I would love for Amplitude to delve deeper into their stance of wanting every players story to be canon, say allow us to play as the Drakken or broken lords should our story involve them escaping Auriga, be able to disable certain heroes we dont want to see in our canon and our custom factions could use the flags of official factions and be able to select our starting hero, or atleast have who the starting hero will be based on the custom factions main ideology (a science faction starts with a science hero and a industrialist faction will start with a industrialist hero etc). I would also love to see the heroes from ES2 and ES1 be brought together for ES3, I could have all 13 hissho heroes from both games together for example or all the craver or sophon heroes together.

I am not very familiar with Endless Legends but I am quite familiar with the Endless Space trilogy. I gotta agree with you on the customization of the player's story. The literal marketing phrase for ES2 was your choice, their future, but I think it would be extremely hard to import endless legend factions like the necrophages into Endless Space 3, though I do agree on selecting starting hero, as long as their race-specific and share the same political party as your empire. While I would love to see Apolla Sundered featured in Endless Space 3, I think that heroes should be specific to each title in the Endless Space franchise. Here are some factions I'd like to see come back for Endless Space 3:

-Sophons: Sophons are definitely the scientific faction placeholder at the time, I really cant think of another faction that can even rival the Sophons at being the most nerdy faction in the game, not featuring them/replacing them would definitely be very incorrect.

-Lumeris: The Lumeris is the first real economic-focused faction we've had in the Endless Space franchise, while the Sheredyn come close, nothing really beats a space mafia at being well a space mafia. They arguably should remain a staple in the franchise's faction roster and taking them away would be a poor financial decision.

-Vodyani: Vodyani was honestly a really cool faction that just had a really good aesthetic overall, endless-worshipping space vampires is an ingenious idea, plus the Vodyani are key to the plotline of Endless Space 2 and I presume that they will keep the whole Lost and Isyander idea so it makes sense to keep the Vodyani as to ground the plot and tie it to a major faction, not adding them/replacing them would be heresy of the highest accord.

-The Hissho were a pretty cool idea in general, space samurai Aztec chickens were a really cool idea, plus once again they are extremely relevant to the plot as they are responsible for the events of the Grey Owl and the great effects it has had on the Endless Universe, not adding them would be a grave dishonor and we will have to do some blood sacrifices to restore that sweet keii.

-The Cravers, WHO DID NOT SEE THIS COMING MAN! The Cravers are one of the most interesting races Amplitude has created yet! While some may say they are just Cyborg Tyranids I beg to differ, the Cravers are actually capable of independent thought from the hive as seen from how the Bishops are completely free to do as they wish. The Craver lore is also extremely rich and they are a great example of the many flaws of the Endless. But I bet you that the Cravers will be added, they are waay too unique to be forgotten and anyone who disagrees can go get turned into biomass!

-United Empire are a little bit too bland and generic, I think they should be added as a dlc faction at most

-Vaulters should definitely be a dlc, I just dont really see anywhere else to them

-Sowers deserve a major faction comeback definitely, but at this point the Vodyani just outdo them at being the Virtuals biggest fanboys, maybe a minor faction/dlc faction at best.

-Unfallen were a one-time thing, they were made for a community competition for Endless Space 2 and I dont think they should be brought back for Endless Space 3 considering how the Automatons were also not added as a minor/major faction in Endless Space 2 mainly because they wee an Endless Space 1 thing. Plus Unfallen dont really add much to the lore lol.

-Automatons: Reasons are above

-Pilgrims were pretty stale in my opinion, I think they should be a dlc/minor faction in Endless Space 3.

-Sheredyn should never even be considered a faction again, the lore behind the Sheredyn is soo bad! Like how does a guard regiment become a massive civilization yet the Deuyivans dont?

- Umbral Choir: Empires shouldnt be soo secretive you know, it kind of defeats the point of being an empire and just makes you a glorified intelligence agency.

-Nakhalim: Meh, pretty useless and kind of pointless faction. But I know Amplitude will certainly add them since they add depth to the Lost which Amplitude prizes over almost everything but Humankind, Isyander and the Academy

-Riftborn: What can you expect? From filthy little shapes? Their whole disgusting race is like a curse! Their skin is like white snow! They are only good when dead! They're glorified shapes as I said and worse they're polygons! Polygons! Barely even living! Polygons! Polygons! What are we waiting for? We know they want to beat us bios, enslave us and browbeat us! OPRESS USSS AND DEFEAT US UNLESS WE GET THEM FIRST!

-The Academy: If they get added as a faction one more time then the entire Endless Space franchise is screwed.

So what do ya think? Any disagreements? Do you think the Riftborn deserve love? Please feel free to scrutinize!.

I agree, though it is possible for more EL factions to appear in Endless space 3, we know there were others ships other than the grey owl that crashed, so its not out of the possibility to say one or more other factions got off that planet, with that said, if a second EL faction did appear, I want it to be the Drakken, imagine space dragons making friends with every other faction and discovering long lost Endless Artifacts. Though last we saw them, their leader had devoted herself and her people to more or less worship the Endless and trying to save Auriga, so the only way for the Drakken to appear is if there is a civil war between the fanatics who try to save Auriga even if its to no avail and the realist's who see the inevitable death of auriga is coming and want to get off the sinking ship, meaning if we do see the Drakken in ES3, big chance they will be more pragmatic and less naive then their EL version.

Let's hope it is so. The main problem was not that Amplitude remained the same, made 4 great games and 1 bad that was pushed unfinished while requesting AAA money for it. But the fact is they made 4 great games as an independent studio, then willingly sold themselves to Sega and than made 1 bad game and treated the customers atrociously. So yeah, I am hopeful and wishing for good sequels but I am aware that selling themselves to Sega may as well be the reason why Humankind was the way it was and for the next games forward, they will also be in this paradigm that they wished for, being part of Sega. We'll see how things develop. Hopefully much much much better

I'm glad that you guys are also pushing some great ideas and feedback for the next installments. I also gave a few up here and also In the Endless Legend 2 thread. Keep them coming maybe the Devs will look them up and get inspired to cook us some great sequels

Making use of the universe you created with Endless Space, make a game more like The Captain, Star Trek, Space Trader, etc.; a game more centered in a single ship and her crew, away teams missions, trade, maybe ad some ownership of production or at least ground facilities or space stations, but the planets, empires or whatever would be not your part. They would produce stuff (very techical term, I know), you would buy, steal, barter or something to make your gain and improve your ship and being able to go to other territories. Diplomatic status between empires would affect your trade, and you could follow the path of trader, pirate, mercenary, bounty hunter, smuggler, even the odd diplomatic mission to get some reputaions and maybe some smugling.

Just a rough idea, a bad idea perhapes but the twist you been giving to some type of games made me think you could make a great game with this base genre

for that type of game, I think it should be like a Endless space version of X4 Foundation, you start on Auriga and can decide which species gets off that planet, and then you can choose your path after that, construct stations and fleets, helping to determine the place of the many factions of the Endless Galaxy or go full conqueror, be able to hire Heroes, work with them, assign them to fleets, stations, and planets, even befriend them, and if possible be able to go Commander Shepard with those Heroes.

Polygons can never be, as good as craverkind. A more delightful race than us you'll never ever find. So step aside you filthy Xeno! We're ready for your worst! We know you wanna beat us! Genocide us and you won't feed us! You'll devour us and eat us unless we get you first!

I would also like to see ground combat improved with 3d units and greater customization, the ground combat in es2 definitely got the short end of the stick compared to space combat.

Also, I have a really cool feature for Endless Space 3 in the works.

What if quests were less like boring events and more like HOI4 focus trees?

For example, the Vodyani could have a religious path where they continue to worship the Endless and they would eventually get the ability to revive every single Endless Spirit and incorporate them into their bodies similar to how Vodyani Heroes do it. Then we could have another religious branch where slowly but surely due to incompetent leadership on Isyara St Shaiad's part and the fact that they find out about how the Church has been controlling them, the people lose faith in the Endless and Isyara, and a second schism breaks out between the loyalist forces and the traitors supported by Isyander, you will get to choose which side you want to support. if the traitors win then Isyara and the Church of the Virtual Saints will be overthrown and replaced by Isyander and his Academy, the Vodyani will have a new technology that will unlock an improvement that will help revive the Lost, these improvements can be created using dust and the first one will be very expensive, slowly as you build more of these improvements, they will get easier to build and provide plenty of buffs to your empire. If you build a certain number of these improvements then you'll be able to revive the Lost which will give you massive bonuses and make you almost unstoppable.

-Militarist branch; the Militarist Branch will be triggered if you choose the loyalist side of the civil war. If you manage to win the civil war then Isyara and the Church of the Virtual Saints will be restored to power and what will follow will be a great purge where anyone with loyalist sympathies will be promptly executed. With the end of this devastating war, the Vodyani Church will adopt a more puritanical view of their religion and bitter from losing multiple wars will go down a more fascist path. As you descend further down the quest you will begin to discover a way to revive the Endless at the expense of the galaxy, you will unlock new ways to gather essence by means of destroying star systems and harvesting everything in them for essence to help you, the more essence you'll gain the more powerful you shall grow and this need for more essence will drive you to declare war on your neighbors, eventually, you will unlock the law "Endless Crusade" which when put in place cannot be undone, it will automatically make you at war with every other civilization in the galaxy, but you will get great buffs similar to what the Cravers get but a little bit better. If you succeed in your conquest and every Civilization capitulates, then every single star system other than your home system will be destroyed, the Virtuals will be revived on your home system giving you a Supremacy Victory. (Btw, the Militarist and Isyander branches can be unlocked if the Vodyani lose a war.)

-Scientific Branch: This branch will require you to have the hero Klev St Seiotia in order to unlock it. In the beginning, you will be tasked with sending Klev St Seiotia on her hero ship to discover new anomalies that can only be discovered by her. Some of the anomalies will be priceless virtual blueprints that indicate great artifacts lay hidden in the universe, some other anomalies will increase the presence of your Science Political Party since people will begin to see Klev St Seiotia as the Virtuals chosen, eventually, Klev St Seiotia will go toe to toe against Isyara St Shaiad herself. If Klev St Seiotia wins, then Isyara will no longer be the leader and Klev will take her place. If Isyara wins then you continue the Religious Endless Branch. So with Klev as your leader, you will continue to unlock more virtual maps that will slowly lead you to discover artifacts of the Endless that can be activated by spending Essence, these artifacts will give you great FIDSI buffs but they can only be activated if they are in your star systems. However, eventually, once you have possession of all of them, you will be able to activate them all for a lot of Essence, if you do this then you will automatically trigger a new Endless Age and you will be able to research the technology needed to achieve a Science victory. It will take 25 turns and all other factions will be notified of this, they have a choice to declare war on you and try to take the systems which have artifacts, if even one system that has artifacts on it gets taken then you will not be able to research the technology needed and you will not be able to activate all the artifacts at the same time ever again. The more people who declare war on you, the more buffs you'll receive so the galaxy will really have to work together to stop you. If you succeed then you win a Scientific Victory and become the new Endless.

-Ecologist Branch: This branch will require you to have the hero "Enav St Lyeaor". In the beginning, you will need to send Enav St Lyeaor to explore systems and find special anomalies containing Virtual Texts to back up the Church's claim that the Vodyani are superior to all other forms of life in the galaxy. After many turns of searching, Enav St Lyeaor instead finds proof of quite the opposite, he finds proof of quite the opposite. He finds proof of the Virtuals living side by side with lifeforms the Vodyani would consider lesser. After returning home, Enav slowly begins to preach teachings that are contrary to that of the Church. That all life are equals in the eyes of the Endless and no lifeform is above another, and since the Church has zero control over Enav St Lyeaor, they are unable to stop his heresy. Eventually a full-blown war occurs between Enav and his followers against the Church, if the Church succeeds then you continue the religious Endless branch, but if you succeed you continue to go down the Ecologist Path and Enav St Lyeaor becomes your new leader. Eventually, you will be faced with a choice, you can either choose to return to the former bodies the Vodyani once inhabited with your innate understanding of biology, or you can keep your mechanical forms. If you choose to return to your old form then your population type will change to "Biological Vodyani" who have more of an emphasis on Ecology and food then Religion and what not. These pops will have +50% growth and + 12 food which will make them very good at populating systems. You will unlock an improvement that will be hard to build but once built all you'll have to do is populate the system with 5 different species and you'll get huge buffs to the system, meanwhile if you choose to keep your forms you will become protectors of the galaxy and you will generate tons of influence from special laws that can be passed, the more acts you do that preserve the galaxy then the more influence you earn. You'll become the galactic police!
