Yes; I too believe that it is necessary for some form of backup to be applied. Games disconnect way too often and not being able to rejoin a game you have disconnected from makes Co-op non playable.

Hi,

If we don't encounter new issues during our tests, it should be a matter of days smiley: smile

How many more months before saved multiplayer games are implemented?

Thanks for the update, Mysterarts!

Just checked out the blog entry on DoTE from December, looking forward to the bug fixes.

On note with the multiplayer saves and desyncs, has LAN ever been an option for a multiplayer format? From personal experience, it seems a lot of the issues with disconnects for me and the friends have been when the Steam Network suffers a hiccup. Would running a MP match over a LAN be a minor fix for those able to play in close quarters?

@Kai123: Dude, that's rude. Also, it's not entirely true.

@Thread: To make mp-saves easier to implement I would consolidate the resources to a shared resource pool (the same as in singleplayer). This would also solve the issue of "missing" resource points. I'm not sure whether DotE tracks fractures of resource points, but I haven't noticed getting extra-income due to fractures of resource points (but I may be wrong on that one). Also, you wouldn't be dependent on having to have the same amount of players you had when you saved the game, when loading a savegame.

Has anyone played "Don't starve together"? That game has fantastic multiplayer with the ability to save games. Incredibly, that game is still in beta!

Hi Amplitude,

I've just wanted to add my voice for obtain a save in multiplayer mode. Actually, you have to stay online with your friends maybe a half day to finish a game. It's a little bit annoying... Without that, i like yours games and yours goals. Keep your actual focus!

Hi,

First of all, we are truly sorry for the inconvenience.

Our developer wrote a progress report here and I can assure you, we are working (almost exclusively) on the desync / disconnection issues. Stay tuned for more concrete news before the end of the month.

So any update on the multiplayer desync fix at least, if not the save game in multiplayer issue?

For many of us, the game is on hold since months, waiting for a bug-free multiplayer.

I understand the caveats of multiplayer sync programming as a fellow developer, but on a game this size and complexity (no negative tone there) a team that built the game should be able to fix it in 4 months already. Last update was in early December, and that was kindof late already to announce you are "working" on it, since the game is not Early Access anymore.

Bring us some good news pls smiley: smile

A game of DotE can be pretty lengthy. I know I would appreciate some way of saving progress and then continuing another time. I can usually get in about an hour or so a night after work with mates and my better half. That is not enough time to finish a game, and I am horribly hooked on the multiplayer so that will be a problem.

Currently the workaround is extra caffeine and calling in late to work. Not something I can keep up for long.

I know it might be against the philosophy of this game, but I also would love to be able to save a multiplayer game and re-try levels with the same characters/stats after failing, so that I can some day get to experience the really hard levels without having to repeat all the easy levels every time or, you might realize that your current characters/stats are a failing strategy after trying to get past the 10th floor many times and then start over with a different strategy.

that is not that what i want.... if u get killed.... back to the beginning...... thats more than ok......

But leaving without get killed..... this must be rejoinable..... after loading, the save can be removed.... no need to this

is it realy so difficult? after loading a saved game.... the game removes the save and all is right without breaking the game..... this sounds easy to me.....

Big Sorry because my terrible english

Yes please x100! I love playing this game but having to start over every time after only reaching the 6th or 7th floor and quitting due to lack of time is really a bummer :/ Even if multiplayer saving just meant storing player stats for an ongoing game and bookmarking level reached (and not the full game state), and letting you start at that level again next time, that would be super awesome.

You have to please the multiplayer backup. Because without it, it's finished impossbile part in co-op (too long).

Unfortunately I have to agree. This and the rejoins (which may overlap somewhat technically. But hey what do I know, just speculation). I play with my significant other just about daily. We have pretty much stopped playing DotE together because of so many disconnects or it's just too late to start one. A shame really, we both love the game and many times end up both playing single player in the same room wishing it was multi
