For whatever reason, when I start up the game, it is very, very dark. I can hardly see the pots the tutorial suggests I break; turret nodes are visible but the floor is a foggy black. Tried fiddling around with all of the graphics settings and they basically did nothing. Any idea what could be causing this?

Can you post your system specs? Operating system and graphics card in particular. Also try updating your graphics card drivers if you haven't recently.

As Eulogos said, your system specs would be helpful. So would the Player.log and diagnostics files (instructions where to find them can be found here in the Reporting Guide). And feel free to upload a screenshot to illustrate the issue as well.
