This happened each time during my latest run, but didn't happen on prior ones. I had all 3 heroes in use. Both times I had around 60 science, and after clicking the F key on my keyboard, while at the research station to refresh the available techs, it used up the entire stock, instead of just the 3 it's supposed to. The first station was in the starting area (name escapes me), and the second one in the procedural something area. I believe I was controlling the robot hero both times it happened. I had the science & food upgrade on my crystal.

That does seem to be the case, although the game ran normally for me otherwise and I wasn't locked into the screen. But the other user in the thread mention Acid Stab, and that is the only upgrade I had done as well, so very likely related.
