The Vaulters have a very high "vengefulness" trait so killing their units tends to make them less likely to sign a truce... up to a point. Certainly their winning a battle will hold of that point for a while. In any case the issue is really that attitude feedback no longer reflects what the AI is going to do with complete accuracy, as behaviour is based on the personality as well as the attitude.

It would be a good idea to give the player some feedback about their personality's ingame.A trait tool tip in the diplomatic UI.

To my knowledge the AI already has no bonuses on normal and actually has penalties on easier difficulties - at least that's what I'm seeing looking at steamapps\common\Endless Legend\Public\Simulation\SimulationDescriptors[GameDifficultyBonus].xml.

Right, I meant that at one point I think it was mentioned that it might be a good idea to lower the bonuses on some of the higher difficulty levels with the AI now performing better. I probably didn't make it clear.

While we are on the topic of difficulties, I was wondering if there was any more talk or plans to tone down some of the AI difficulty bonuses at the first couple of levels after normal since they have gotten such a substantial upgrade in the last AI update. Either this or maybe an option for some custom difficulty settings...like keeping the attitude adjustment of the harder AI, while playing with the no-bonus of the normal difficulty setting.

Thanks for taking the time to reply btw.

Also I have been OK with trading with the AI so far. At least I didn't notice them being more stingy than usual. In one instance I was able to trade the tech for tier 1 glassteel and titanium weapons for the tech for adamantian and palladian weapons with just a bit of extra spices thrown in. This is at normal difficulty though so maybe that is a factor.

The difficulty does greatly influence the stinginess of the AI yeah - maybe the Reddit user is playing on easy? Perhaps the friendliness of easy AIs should be toned down...

What we really need are saves - it's the only way to be sure :/

Hey wilbefast,

Just FYI, quite a few people are finding the AI's diplomacy to be totally intransigent. See this thread for more:

Thanks for your attention. It is good to know that Amplitude is responsive, because this issue is spoiling a lot of the game for me (and others).

I have trouble with Reddit because it doesn't send email notifications so I never know when people are talking to me smiley: rollsweat

I've posted on the thread though and I'll try to look into the issue on our end as well.

Also, it's not just about the Vaulters. I'm currently waging a war against the Drakken, and they're similarly stubborn despite being two cities from annihilation. They won't accept a straight truce, I'd have to pay them for one. Naturally, I'll just destroy them -- but this is obviously a broken mechanic.

Hmm... Righto, will look into these truces to...

OK so I hit the Vaulters hard and took all but one of their cities.

When I was about to take the second-last city they expressed the urge to negotiate, but when I tried to offer a truce, the bar was way out to my side as if I was the one who was at a disadvantage. Even now with one city remaining, they are like this. I attached a screenshot and a save as well.

Looking into this now - thanks for the save!

edit: The Vaulters personality is very stubborn! There is some new logic to make the term evaluations more consistent with the terms the AI wants to propose: in this case the Vaulters hate your guts so aren't too keen on truces, exhausted or not. This isn't consistent with the feedback you were receiving though. We'll look into how this can be fixed. Ideally the personalities should be more visible to the player.
