This is the review I've been waiting the most. Great smiley: smile

A nice follow-up from Adam Smith:

"Amplitude are having a very good year. The studio’s debut release, Endless Space, was a good 4X game but the follow-up, Endless Legend, is a great 4X game. I’m fairly sure there hasn’t been a better release in the genre this year (...) One of the great strengths of Endless Legend is the intertwining of lore and strategy. Side quests aren’t simply distractions – they’re key to an understanding of the world and the strategies needed to survive. In that sense (and others), Endless Legend is the antidote to many of the misgivings Alec and I shared when we discussed Beyond Earth."

A short review with a focus on the storytelling.

"Now THIS is how you make a memorable faction: Endless Legend’s Vaulters.

In several ways, Endless Legend feels like the game Civilization: Beyond Earth wanted to be (...) The difference is that Beyond Earth felt bland and boring, whereas Endless Legend brims with personality (...) And that makes me glad. After the years I’ve spent whingeing about unimaginative video game settings, Endless Legend is a breath of fresh air. Other strategy designers, take note!"

I'm not a 4x specialist, but I've played CIV. And I prefer Endless Legend, first because there is RPG Elements, Factions are more distincts, and I prefer free tech research of EL. Tech tree of CIV if focused on nodes/branch and I dislike it. And GUI of EL is far better than CIV, more ergonomic.

Globaly EL is an incredible addictive game, no matter it's an imperfect game.

But about combat system, I would prefer total control on the unit. Some abilitys are hard to play for now (high ground for example), because units move by itself where I don't want they go.

An interesting, well written review.

"Bizarre, cynical, and full of stories–truly, Amplitude Studio’s Endless Legend is the Hunter S. Thompson of 4X games.

In a year that boasted some heavily-desired strategy and civ-based games (including one from the granddaddy of all civilization franchises), isn’t it funny that the one that absolutely stands out the most is the one with the strangest lore, most unique characters and creatures, and most fleshed-out, fun-to-explore world. (...)

About 40 hours in, I still feel like I’ve got plenty of game to tear apart, appreciate, and drink heavily in honor of. Endless Legend is just the sort of fantasy 4X that the gaming world needs to see more of. Grim, atmospheric, and filled with more freaks and fascinating stunts than a circus tent, I’m genuinely excited to see how Amplitude expands this universe over time."

84/100 (German)

"Der Spielspass lässt auch nicht so schnell nach, der "Nur noch schnell 1 Runde!" Reflex ist immer präsent!"

Small correction: It's a user review on the site, not an official review of the magazine. They still haven't done any such review, at all.

Dunno if it counts as a review, but Angry Joe put EL in the number 8 spot on his Top 10 Games of 2014 video. In case anyone didn't know.

You bet it's a review! And already 1 million+ YouTube viewers.

Nice catch Buzzkillington smiley: smile

EL review starts at 6:05.

"The real 4x strategy winner of 2014 is actually Endless Legend (...) It's a must have for any strategy lover".
