"Amplitude has created a sophomoric sensation, perhaps making the best vanilla 4X game in a decade. It's not perfect. It has some weird bugs and some of its mechanics could be more fleshed out. However, it's a game that deserves to be in every 4X game fan's library. Period."

You got a VERY nice press coverage from gram.pl (one of the biggest polish gaming sites), you can thank techland for that There's a whole series of articles just about you in a series titled "A week with the Endless universe"



No review available as of yet though, I'll keep you posted. But there's a lot of hype being generated there, I thought you might want to know this!

Consequently, they gave e.g. AOW 3 an 8.5.

That is a godawful review, Nos. It's obvious they didn't play it that much. Sad...

If you read it, it's pretty detailed and they actually go through a lot of EL's strengths. The score is very much influenced by their large weight on combat and dislike of it.

Below the review, there's lots of comments saying: "Huh, what you state as negative about combat isn't really negative for me. It might even be positive. How should I interpret your score, then?", which encourages me.

I imagine the combat system is going to be love/hate for a lot of people. It's a departure from the tactical battle system that's been in these sort of games since the 1990's and some people prefer total control.



Even though a mediocre score was given, I appreciate the level of detail in that review.



One thing I didn't understand was "multiplayer same as single player" as a negative. In my book any game that manages to make the MP like the single is doing it correctly.

Reviewers are outdated and out of touch with what gamers like. Yes some might fuzz at the combat system but in my oppinion many will love it for how it lets you fight when you want during your turn and in a chess like tactical situation. And as prophetbudda says sp same as mp negative? Please...

Stuff like this happens because EL dare to do new things in the genre and the reviewer does not understand the genre well enough to see this is a novel and good move. I wish there where more reviewers that actually loved and knew tbs genre better.

I also went through the reviews and got the same jist from them, however someone replied complaining about only being able to place one city in a region, lack of lore and no magic... and a couple of other things we've discussed ourselves.

Nicely designed menus and interfaces.

Not all races are perfectly balanced one with another.

The tutorial is a bit boring.

yes we sent our review code too late, and on top of that the review code was as good as the final release... on top of that let's add TGS and a heavy season with releases... well it takes time for the reviews to come in
