I personally don't have an issue with hovering the mouse in order to get the production, but if we want to always see the production, maybe that's an idea ^^

 Or just have 2 lines of resources: 

Titanium, Glassteel, and Adamantian on line 1

Palladian, Mithrite, and Hyperium on line 2

Or modify the whole top left so it looks like this:

Current Research; Turns Remaining

Titanium (current + gain); Glassteel (current + gain); Dust (current + gain)

Adamantian (current + gain); Palladian (current + gain); Influence (current + gain)

Mithrite (current + gain); Hyperium (current + gain); Science (gain)

Currently you have to enter research to see your science per turn, so having a quicker reference would be nice ...

Or this could be used to display Diplomacy Points.  There is no shortage of requests for more transparent Diplomacy.
